Cleveland composer Ty Alan Emerson is the Director of the Cleveland Chamber Collective. In addition to the Collective, his works have been performed locally by Cleveland Jazz Orchestra, No Exit, and the former VERB Ballets. Inlet Dance Theatre featured his ballet, Caliban Ascendant as part of the Tremont Summer series, and the GroundWorks Dance series.
Awards include: ASCAP Morton Gould Award, the Academy of Arts and Letters, and a fellowship to the MacDowell Colony. He’s been performed at festivals from Monroe, LA, to Huddersfield, UK, and is often featured on WLCV’s by host Mark Satola.
His most recent works, Shelter-in-Place and Pan Songs are now available on Sound Cloud.
Nicholas Stevens of Cleveland Classical wrote, “Darkling, I Listen… resembled a single painted brushstroke on an otherwise blank canvas. Variable in thickness, color, and height, drawn against silence and always threatening to run out...” Louisville Courier-Journal music critic Andrew Adler wrote “[Dedications]…possessed surprising emotional resonance and was quite expertly wrought.”
